Thank you finding my granny and grad daddy was the second most happy day in my life. In the Loar cemetery Ernest(Dick) Layne and Delcie Layne double marker were married over 50 years. Gran daddy's parents are up Great Gran Daddy was Tom Layne and his wife is Molley Layne was Dick's mother and daddy. They also had a daughter named Ernestine Layne she die when she was around six year old and has the same marker I want when it is time for me. Please understand I do not have a credit card but would love to send money to help you do this great gift for my family. Please tell me where I can send you a check. My Moma and Aunt Hen send money to someone in Betey Layne to keep up the cemetery but none of us grandchildren know who that was. Again thank you we have not been up that way since granny passed. Never gave it a thought when my Mama passed which was their daughter Betty Jo Layne Greene which is in Jacksonville buried there. I know I could just keep writing but will not take up any more of your time. Again please write to me or email me an address where I could send some money in order to help you out. Thank you Danielle for doing this clean up of the Betsy Layne cemetery. Even though I do not have family on this cemetery I do appreciate the work you are putting into this. I encourage everyone who has family on this cemetery to help with a donation toward your goal and even make a trip to it and help with the clean up.

Sue - Thank you for posting. I saw this picture on Floyd Co. Historical on Facebook. I am hoping to confirm. There is a section of the cemetery that hasn't been touched in decades. There is a taller upright headstone, but so thick with thorn bushes. I tried yesterday to get in there. I did get to one smaller upright stone with LAYNE hand-carved. I'll keep you posted. Thank you so much for sharing.

I have a photo taken in 1941 of the headstone of J S Stratton and S H Stratton that does not say where it was taken other than I know it is Floyd County. One person that has seen it tells me it is in the same cemetery where James Shannon Layne and his wife are buried. I am wondering if this is the correct cemetery for this headstone. They are Jennie Stratton and Solomon Stratton. I have several photos that show surrounding headstones so maybe it is possible to tell if they fit with any of your unknowns.

Tandy Middleton Layne (12-9-1805 / 8-4-1841) was a son of James Shannon Layne.

Angie- I remember a Foley buried there, and yes, close to George Hall. I know exactly where he is buried. Unfortunately, that area of the cemetery is nearly overtaken by overgrowth. I'm going back 3/13 for an interview with the Pikeville Paper, I'll try to find her marker. Can you email me her birth and death years? Or approximates? Her parents / spouse? Thanks!

Angie Walters- I am creating a map of the cemetery, but have not found one. I have contacted local funeral homes that have buried there in the past 20-30 years in hopes they may have a map. But no luck.

Danielle, Does anyone have a map of the cemetery that you have found? John has an aunt Elizabeth Foley buried by the grandfather George Hall. We have nothing on Elizabeth as in dates. SHe died of a ruptured appendix on a boat on the Big Sandy river trying to get her medical help. Angie

I know my grandmother, Inez Adkins (Moles) is buried here. I am not sure which one, it has been many years since I have visited. She meant a lot to my dad and he means the world to me, so I want her to be remembered too. Love you.

Please feel free to leave the directors of the cemetery a message. You can also leave a memory of someone buried in the BLC. Thank you
